Nickelodeon International Greenlights Two Short-Form Series From Global Animated Shorts Program

Nickelodeon International has greenlit the first two short-form series to come out of its Global Animated Shorts Program!

The two shorts are Sharkdog from Singapore and MooseBox from South Africa.

Sharkdog is a 20 x 90-second series created by Jacinth Tan and Raihan Harun from Singapore. It follows Max and his adopted pet/sidekick that’s half shark and half dog, and all appetite. But can Sharkdog suppress his ravenous urges and, just this once, not eat Max's homework? It is being produced by CGI animation studio One Animation.

MooseBox (20 x 90 seconds, pictured) is created by Mike Scott and produced by South African studio Mind’s Eye Creative. It follows Moose and CatBox, two best friends who need each other to play, explore and survive a video game world called The Cube.

Both will premiere on the Nickelodeon Play app in several international markets.

Along with these two shorts, the kids network has also picked 21 additional pitches out of 850 submissions for potential development into an animated shorts series, which will have the potential to air on the network or live on the Nickelodeon Play app.

Nickelodeon also recently took its popular digital short Welcome to the Wayne offline and into the TV world after it found success online.

Nickelodeon's Global Animated Shorts Program is designed to identify and develop original comedy-driven content for kids.

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) has also given season-two orders for Comedy Central International short-form hits Absolutely Fine, Share This and Bad Snappers.

“We are always on the lookout for original content that’s emotional, broad, simple and character-driven, and we love working with creative talent from around the world,” said Nina Hahn, the Senior Vice President (SVP) of international production and development at Nickelodeon. “Sharkdog and MooseBox originated from our Global Animated Shorts Program and have grown into the perfect fit for Nickelodeon’s global content pipeline.”
